About the Festival

The first Dawson City Music Festival took place in 1979. It was an intimate, two-day affair among friends, comprising a jam session on a West Dawson farm and a dance at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s. Quickly realizing that the Festival was too good a secret to keep, an enterprising band of local volunteers incorporated the Dawson City Music Festival Association in 1980, and received charitable status in 1986.

Since then, the event has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s premier musical events, but its strengths have remained the same: unparalleled intimacy, grassroots spirit, fabulous Klondike hospitality, and the best concerts North of 60!

Example Itinerary

Day One - Take your flight to Dawson and check into your accommodation. In the evening you will enjoy the Festival performance at the Palace Grand Theatre.

Day Two - Take a tour of Dawson City and the Goldfields and immerse yourself in Goldrush history. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy the Festival performances and solve a Klondike mystery at the escape room. The evening will be spent at the Festival's ticketed performance.

Day Three - Take a breathtaking 90-minute heli-flight into Tombstone Park landing included! Back in town, you can enjoy the festival’s events and of course, take part in the last night of main performances. To cap off your trip visit the Diamond Tooth Gerties Saloon. Dawson Rocks!

Day Four - You will take your flight back to Whitehorse and prepare for the flight home or your next Yukon adventure.
